Finally about to hit the road!

After getting the refrigerator recall done on our motor home and the oil leak on the generator fixed, we are about ready to hit the road to Colorado.  I have an appointment to have the front end aligned on Monday and hopefully we can get loaded and get the heck out of the hot Texas weather.

We normally don't travel but a little over 300 miles each day so we plan to spend the first night in loverly Amarillo and then on to Pueblo, CO for one night.  We then plan to go on to Buena Vista, CO to try out another RV park for about five nights befor reaching one of our final destinations in Lake City, Colorado.  We will be meeting several members of our Cowboy Church RV Club to spend several days running Jeep trails.  Correction:  we will be driving our Jeep Wrangler and the rest will be riding four wheelers.

My Sister and Brother In-Law's Trike

I was glad to learn that my sister and her husband took the lead in doing sort of a crazy thing after all these years.  Through the years I have been pretty much the wild child with motorcycles, hot cars, racing three wheelers, racing mountain bikes, doing 100K bike rides, and spending a small fortune on a highly modified Jeep for rock crawling.

I am so proud of them for stepping out!!  Cool Harley!  And-----you can see their motor home in the background.

Father's Day 2012

Clay, Nicole, Avery, and Cole came over on Saturday to celebrate Father's Day.  We had a good time, eating way too much.  Hamburgers, chips, dip, cake, ice cream, strawberries, and whipped cream.  I ate way too much (I lost 8 pounds in 10 days but probably put at least 2 back on)!

Avery brought her new Poodle puppy named Bella.  Super cute little dog and we all enjoyed playing with it.

We plan to go see Lance and Mandie in Little Rock this next weekend, June 23rd, and the week after we will be going to Gracie's birthday party.  It is great having granchildren!

We will be heading for Colorado on July 3rd and are looking forward to getting into cool country.

Short Camping Trip with Church Group

We camped two nights with our church RV group at a park at Weatherford, which was the very nicest one we have camped in.  This would be a great place for a family with kids. The pool is beautiful, they have a fishing pond, lots of room to ride bikes, and the main building has a huge game room with ping pong, pool, exercise area, big screen TVs, and a Wii. There are three bedrooms for rent with private baths that are gorgeous. They even furnish a full kitchen for customers to use.

This is the main building with rental rooms, game room, kitchen, etc.

Our unit at the camp.

A shot of some of the sites.

They have a wonderful pool with a hot tub.

BUY, BUY, BUY!

Oh boy, oh boy!  Nothing like spending money!  Last week we had the pleasure of getting to buy a new hot water heater after ours flooded the garage ($525).  Irregardless, I still felt pretty flush so I made arrangements to have a cruise control unit installed in our Jeep Wrangler ($462).

One silly purchase let to another and so I decided that we needed a HD DVR in the motor home.  After all, when we are in Colorado this summer, we will want to be able to record the soaps to watch when we get back from our adventuresome escapades in the mountains.  At first it looked as though it was almost free but by the time I got to the end of the story, it came to $268 for the unit, including installation.

Being the profectionist I reckon I am, I noticed that the Jeep was pulling to the right a tiny bit.  Took it to the shop for an alignment and learned that the tie rod is bent.  By the time it is installed and the alignment done, I get to enjoy paying a $250 bill.

I have been sort of wanting to buy a pickup (since I no longer have one) but I realize I don't need to buy it so we can take care of fun stuff like hot water heaters, HD DVRs, cruise controls, and repairs to the Jeep!

A friend from our church RV group passed away last weekend and it makes us more aware of how blessed Toni and I are that we still have each other around!

If anyone is reading this stuff, I'm sure they are bored.  I have made arrangements to have cruise control installed in my Jeep.  Lack of cruise is the only thing that I haven't liked about my Jeep Wrangler.

We are also installing a DVR in the motor home and now we will be able to have satellite TV in the bedroom.  It will be really handy when we are in Colorado holed up in the motor home because we are too lazy to go hiking and stuff.  But............at least when we do go outside, it will be cool weather.
