I reckon Democrats back in the day were as scarce as they are today in Texas!
The whole day wasn't spent studying cannibalism! This is Lake San Cristobal very near Lake City.
Texas folks keep this place alive. Ninety percent (guessing) of the tourist here are from Texas and most of the business owners as well. They love Texans! We keep the place green.
We were on the road to Engineers Pass when we spotted this house above! They build everywhere!
Other activities of the day.
Before lunch, we took a walking tour with a young lady that comes in for the summer to be a tour guide. Her great-grandparents came here years ago and her parents still live here. It was very entertaining and informative with many really funny stories about prior citizens!
I rode my mountain bike about 2 1/2 miles up the road to Engineers Pass and, after a couple of climbs, I was pretty much shot so I turned around. The road is the perfect place for a beginner to start getting acclimating but, since it is gravel, I decided not to go on my road bike, which I prefer. Coming back down, I took a single track trail that runs along the road.
In the evening we went to a dinner and show put on by the local folks in their theatre. It is called "Southern Hospitality" and is about a small make believe town in Texas. Very funny!
I just can't say enough about this town. Folks here are so super friendly and the town is so untouched by commercialism such as McDonalds etc.
